Eva Beumer
*Hilversum 1945
started her career as film animator and graphic designer. In the 1980's she turned to the plastic arts and graduated at Utrecht School of the Arts as a sculptress. Much of her work is made of clay combined with paper, metal and paint. She uses graphic techniques to expand three-dimensional space. Organic elements are at the basis. Eva: “I use organic elements both in their figurative and abstract form, exploring the limits of transformation from organism to object and transcending an image of life to an echo of life”. She has become known for her sequences of objects that elucidate this process, as in the series Silent Leaves. In 2009 she won the silver medal on the Biennale Internazionale dell'arte Contemporanea di Firenze. She lives and works in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
