I paint figurative art with lots of colors.
The cartoon & comic universe plays an important role in my works.
But to me, the characters are not 'just' cartoon characters. They characterize somebody. It may be behavior patterns, personality traits, people from my life, politicians, business people ...
My works often have a reference into art itself and reflects on art by creating new contexts. Many of the elements I use I seek among the absolute opposites in visual arts. Often I embed what happens around us. I tell stories - or provide the viewer a 'mirror' for self-recognition.
I enjoy a friendly teasing provocation.
Still, I find it ok if the viewer does not see my (or his own) stories in the pictures, but only a recognizable character in an non-typical context, wrapped in delicious colors.
To create, learn and explore gives me a flow and drives my enthusiasm for visual art.
My fascination for experimenting with materials, styles and techniques is evident - and I'm excited about contrasts and humor.
I was born and raised in central Jutland. After my study in International Management (Economics & Languages) at Aarhus Business School, I went abroad for almost 17 years. During this time I lived primarily in Germany and worked in marketing in various functions. 2½ years ago I returned to Denmark.
I am married and have two children aged 8 & 10 years. Different worlds than the world of art?
Maybe. But worlds of much inspiration.
