Miranka Mud

I'm not the moderated kind, but more the expressionist in a good sense.
I like to think, dream, feel.
The sun, the stars the moon.
Literature, art, theatre, and dance.
I believe in the soul, overwhelming love, depth, and lots of humor.
The world is something I have less believe in…

Three of my greatest passions are: acting, drawing and painting, and writing.
I don't see these three expressions as separate things, but as a part of a whole.
To express your feelings, put them into writing, draw them on paper/canvas, or exhibit them on a stage; eventually it comes down to the same.
You tell a story, or give a start to a story; only the materials used are different.
One image can call up a thousand other images and so become something of universal character.
Universal stories are stories that we share, and that offer us some form of comfort.

I am mainly interested in people; in what's behind the face.
To my opinion especially the painfull and tragic events and situations, the sorrow in one's life and in the world, are the events that have the greatest effect on one's existence and in the evolution.
Grieve leaves it's traces, while joy and happiness are short-term emotions and fade away quickly.

The less joyfull events are the one that leave their traces, but are often kept hidden while people fear and reject them.
To my opinion life can be beautifull, but can often also be a nightmare.
Destiny can strike hard and ruthless, and people are capable of doing the most horrible things to one another.
War, concentration camps like Auschwitz, loss, personal grief, child suffering, diseases, these are the things that we' re facing in life, but many people collectively ignore the tragic aspects of life, which causes a lack of true feeling and empathy.
How can anything change something for the good in one's life or in the world when people only embrace the pleasant, but fear to look upon the tragic and horrible, isolating an burying it deep inside, while those make up the biggest and most important of life.
I have made a conscious choice to show the more tragic side of life.
Joy can only reach full prosperity, when also, one does not shun the other side of life.
A superficial world is no world that really lives, heals and grows on.

My intention is not to make myself and the spectators feel comfortable.
To my opinion art is not solely meant to amuse and to pleasure, but mainly to confront, to search, to encover, to ask questions, but most of all to be honest, which hopefully will narrow the distance between man and the image itself.

After the school of dramatic arts and the study of dramatic sciences, I started with drawing.
I had my first exhibition in castle Groeneveld in Baarn Holland.
Exhibitions on several places in Holland and Germany followed:
In Holland: a gallery in Hilversum, some exhibitions in the wellknown village of artists, Laren,
Castle Oud Zuylen in Maarssen.
In Germany: Bad Vilbel, Heilbron and Munchen.
