Franz Graw

Franz Graw

The painter Franz Graw was born in 1964 and today still lives and works in his home town Düsseldorf.
His artistic creations include mainly oil paintings, sculptures, collages, linoleum prints, drawings and works in clay.
From his early childhood Graw loved to paint
and was fascinated by the colours of the old impressionists and by architecture.
However, only in 1984 he began his carrier as an artistic painter.
At first he focused on impressionistic pictures, but through intense self study, painting and experimenting with various stylistic
directions he developed over time his own unique and unmistakable style,
his distinctive artistic signature with intense colours and a flood of details.
It remained a challenge for him, not to adapt to norms and not to be dependant
on the opinions of outsiders but to unswervingly and powerfully express his individual creativity in ever new oil paintings.
Every free minute he used for studies, designs and sketches.
The result is an artistic work that already is astonishing as well as incomparable.
Recently he passionately began to explore new ways of expressions and to convert his ideas into three dimensional sculptures.
His creativity inspires him to express his artistic ideas without considering the judgement of others or the possibility for selling his art.
To achieve this, Graw became financially independent of the art market by accepting a half day position as an art restorer.
