Immanuel Klein

From 1979 to 1986 Immanuel Klein (Rotterdam/Holland, 1960) studied cello with Ubaldo Arcari and Marien van Staalen, composition with Theo Loevendie and Klaas de Vries and double-bass/bassguitar (jazz) with Koos Serierse at the Conservatory of Rotterdam. 

After his final cello examination he continued his cello studies with Godfried Hoogeveen at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague for another year.

After his studies he left for West-Berlin (1988-'89) were he composed the cello concerto "IRIS - Fragments for cello and orchestra", commissioned by the Johan Wagenaar Foundation.

In the following years he was mainly active as a sculptor.

From 1997 till 2001 he has been alternating periodes of sculpting and composing. Since 2002 he has been fully active as a sculptor, with annual working periods in Pietrasanta, Italy.
