Josepha Van Den Anker

Born in Holland, raised in Canada, Josepha van den Anker A.O.C.A. has been a resident of Ireland since 1987.  She is an honour's graduate of the Ontario College of Art & Design, Canada, winner of the prestigioous Forsythe Scholarship Award for Excellence in Painting.

Van den Anker's ancestors, have been builders for several generations, she inherited an enhanced perception of space an developed a similar interest in geometry and architecture.  She is a figurative painter, but during the later years, it was a natural progression to gradually remove the illustrative content in her work and evolve into deeper analytical studies of form, using the vehicle of colour in the composition of her spaces.

"One Added Dimension" 1986 her first solo exhibitions, were held concurrently at The Justina M Barnicke Gallery, Hart House, University of Toronto, and The Geraldine Davis Gallery, Toronto.

Her most recet exhibitions are "Circum Me" July 2003 Droichead Arts Centre, Co.Louth & "The Red Shoes" April 2004 The Belltable Arts Centre, Limerick
