Martin Hawes 

 

  • Born UK 1956; emigrated to Australia 1968.

  • Semi-professional wilderness photographer since the mid 1970s, focussing mainly on the Tasmanian wilderness.

  • Author/photographer of the book ‘Above me only sky’                (Drinkwater, Hobart, 1981).

  • Images published in numerous books, magazines, calendars and       other publications including ‘40º South Tasmania’ magazine (2002), ACE magazine (2004), ‘All the Wonderful Earth’                                                 (Krishnamurti Publications of America, 2000), ‘2006 Wildcountry Australia’ calendar (Wilderness Society) and many more.

  • Co-produced the multimedia production ‘The Island’ with the Tasmanian duo Alchemy (2000).

  • Author/photographer of the book ‘Twelve Principles: Living with integrity in the twenty-first century’ (Finch Publishing, Sydney, 2003).

  • Produced the print series ‘imperfections’ in collaboration with Tasmanian haiku poet Ron Moss and translator Yoji Hashimoto, 2005.

  • Images featured on Avant Card free postcards in 2004 and 2005.
