He studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and the Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs with Zao-Wou Ki and has continued to work in France where he collaborates with performers in contemporary dance and circus.

The moving body has always been the central theme of Nicholas Stedman’s paintings. The five works presented here depict dancers and trapeze artist spinning in coloured spaces or pirouetting or falling through abstract patterns. The paintings attempt to give viewers a kinesthetic experience in which they increase their own self-awareness by imitating or participating in the actions of the painted figures.
